Screen Data

The Screen Data commands let you look for missing or invalid data values, compare your current data with that of a prior year to find unexpected changes early on in your valuation process, and, in general, evaluate the readiness of your data for further ProVal processing. From within Spreadsheet Edit, the Screen Data commands are located on the Screen menu.

The most basic level of data screening is a Find Duplicates (e.g., duplicate SSNs). More extensive data screening tests can be applied through the Screen Data library. ProVal supplies some basic tests that you can start with. You can add tests to meet your data's particular requirements. Such tests are created in the Custom Screening Test library, which is accessible from the Database menu under Screen Data, as well as from within Screen Data library entries.

Errors found through the data screening process (as well as the Import process) can be written to an error log for the database in question. You can review logged error information through the View Error Log command.
