Templates: Validating Bookmarks and Form Fields

When authoring a Report Writer Template, it may be helpful to see a complete list of Bookmarks and Form Fields in your document.

The Bookmarks button under General > Template Document will display a dialog box something like this:

This shows every bookmark in your document. The "FF" column indicates whether each bookmark is part of a Form Field. (Recall that Word automatically assigns a bookmark name such as "Text1" to every form field.) The "Text" column shows a portion of the text encompassed by the bookmark. The "Start", "End" and "Length" columns show the approximate position (in characters) within the document. The exact numbers are not useful, but their relative values may be. You may click on a column heading to sort the list.

Note the Go To button in the lower-left corner. If you are not sure where a bookmark is located in your document, select a row in the list and then click the Go To button (or just double-click the row). Your Word document will jump to the requested location.
