Selection Expressions

This allows you to save selection expressions, which are logical expressions that are used to select a subset of the records in a database. The selection library allows experienced users to write selection expressions that can be recalled easily by less-experienced users.

Name may be any descriptive phrase, including spaces, under which to save this entry.

Expression is a logical expression for selecting records from a database. While you are entering the expression, you can press the F1 key to see a summary of the available operators and field names.

Many ProAdmin commands, both on the Database Menu and other menus, allow you to retrieve a selection expression previously saved under the Selection Expressions command. Clicking the button for choosing a selection expression accesses the Retrieve Selection Expression dialog box.

Pick a selection expression to retrieve by clicking its name in the list of selection expressions in the current project. You will return to the preceding dialog box, and the selection expression will appear in the appropriate expression box. To edit a selection expression, click the Edit button to access the selection expression library. From there, you can create new expressions or modify existing ones.
