Decrement rates don't match values in table

QUESTION: The decrements in my sample life are close to, but don't match exactly the values in my decrement tables. Why?

ANSWER: As part of the valuation assumptions, you were asked whether active decrements are rates or probabilities. The discrepancy between your sample life and decrement tables exists because you’ve selected "rates" as the answer. This choice indicates that ProVal should transform these rates into probabilities to reflect the fact that decrements are "competing" in a multi-decrement environment. See Decrements: rates vs. probabilities for details.
