In-service benefits (paid before decrement from active status)
QUESTION: I have a plan that provides one month’s additional salary in every year that an employee works. This is a payment only while active – not paid upon decrement from active status because of the retirement, termination, death or disability contingency. Is there a way I can determine the present value of these in-service benefits?
ANSWER: Create a Benefit Definition with a contingency of “In-Service”, active eligibility requirements of 0 years of service and a benefit formula that returns a month’s salary.
