Individual Results

For the Database file name, select the ProVal database that you wish to use to store the individual employee results of the average benefit percentage and normal and most valuable accrual rate calculations. This is presumed, truly, to be “employee” results; thus results will be “written out” to the individual results output database file only for records whose status field code is mapped to the ProVal “Active” status; results will not be written out for any inactive records, whether or not processed as if they were active; thus results will not be written out for records whose status field code is mapped to the ProVal “Vested valued through active” status.

Note that you cannot save the results to the same ProVal database that was selected as the input database under the Census Data topic. However, by selecting Additional fields (from census database), you can write all of the data from your original database, plus the fields created by this tool, thereby avoiding having to merge data later on (see the discussion below). In addition, if you use Data Defaults, the default values will be saved to this database.

Select a Key field to use in matching records. If the database already contains records (and the Delete all existing records before processing check box is unchecked), then ProVal will be not be writing individual results to records with blank field values and needs the key field for matching new results to existing records. In that case, existing data will be updated with results of the run. To replace existing records, check the box.

The Match case in key option determines whether ProVal should, for example, treat “a” differently from “A” when these characters are encountered. For case-sensitive treatment, check the box.

The items displayed in the list for Nondiscrimination results are created during the run and will be saved to the selected database.  Double-click an entry, or select an entry and click the Edit button, to edit the field name, its Description (which appears in the Field Definition column of this parameter), the column title to be displayed for this field in the database and its numerical format. If the plan is run on a benefits basis, the normal accrual rate, most valuable accrual rate, accrual rate not subject to permitted disparity, plan year compensation, covered compensation, average annual compensation and a permitted disparity factor are written to the individual results database for use in the U.S. Coverage and General Tests tool. The permitted disparity factor is calculated according to §1.401(l)-3(e) of IRS regulations. If the plan is run on a contributions basis, the normal accrual rate, most valuable accrual rate, accrual rate not subject to permitted disparity and plan year compensation are written to the individual results database for use in the U.S. Coverage and General Tests tool. Various other fields are also written to the database file and they can be fed into the U.S. Coverage and General Tests tool to create accrual rate statistics (which do not affect test results).

For Additional Fields (from census database), click the Add/Omit button to choose, from the Data Dictionary, fields that exist on the census (input) database to “pass through” the run and save to the individual results database.
