Service start adjustment
Service start adjustment dialog box allows you to adjust the starting date(s) of service calculations. When not using events, the starting date is usually the date of hire or participation. If events are being used then each start event can be individually adjusted.
If events are not being used, the screen will show the following items:
Date Adjustment to service start date lets you select an entry from the Date Adjustment Library to use as the rounding rule to the start date. The button allows you to go directly into the library and set up a new definition.
Service starts at the later of tells you when the computation of service will begin.
If events are being used, the screen will appear with the items below:

Overrides by Event(s) permits you to setup and assign different service start adjustments to different events. For example the adjustment for original hire may be the first of the following month, but on a rehire event there may not be any adjustment. If this library already has entries, you can click on an entry to edit it (Click to edit) or you can click the New button which brings up the Override service start adjustment screen:
Description is any descriptive phrase that identifies the override to you. It can be of any length and may use any character or spaces.
Date adjustment to (start) event date lets you select an entry from the Date Adjustment Library to use as an override rounding rule to starting event(s) you select. Starting events are designated as starting events in the Event Definition.
Service starts at the later of tells you when the computation of service will begin. Service will start at the later of:
Apply to start event(s) is where the selection of events to which the override applies of is made. The selection is made with a check mark in the box. The button brings the selected events to the top of the list. The button puts the list in alphabetical order. The asterisk (* used in a different service start adjustment) shows which events have already been selected in a different override. Should you select (check) an event with an asterisk (*), the event will no longer use the rules previously associated with the event, but will use the current override.
