XML Database Linkage

The XML Database Linkage is where the connection between the Data Dictionary and paths within the XML input documents (where the data is stored) are made.

The first step in the process of creating a new XML linkage library entry is to import the XML schema. XML schema documents have the extension XSD. This XSD document defines the layout of the XML input. Clicking the XML Schema... button will display three choices: Import, Export, and View.

Clicking Import brings up the Import XML Schema Document dialog, allowing you to browse to and select the XML schema document that you need. After selecting the XML schema document, click the Open button. A message will display indicating if the import was successful. After a successful import, the bottom of the screen will display XML Schema: followed by the name of the XML schema that was imported.

Clicking Export displays the Export XML Schema Document dialog box. On this dialog box, you can browse to a folder and enter the name for the XML schema document that you are exporting. After selecting the file, click on the Open button. If the file name that you entered does not exist, a message box will be displayed asking if you want to create this file. If you select Yes, the XSD document will be created. If you select No, you will return to the XML Database Linkage dialog.

Clicking View displays a formatted version of the current XML Schema Document.  You can then print or save the report.

Note that after a successful import, the bottom of XML Database Linkage dialog box will display the name of the XML schema that was imported. The XML Schema will be left undefined until one is imported successfully.

The XML Database Linkage dialog box has two tabs:

The Key Fields tab is where you enter a Description for the library entry and set the tags for the key information needed to process a calculation.

The Data Field Links tab defines the connection between the fields in the Data Dictionary and the paths within the XML input documents.
