Eligibility

The Eligibility section of the Benefit Definition dialog specifies what criteria a member needs to have met at the time of decrement in order to receive a benefit.  Note that this does not describe the requirements for commencement of the benefit.  For example, the eligibility requirement for a terminated vested benefit might be completion of 5 years of service with no age requirement, even though the benefit does not start until age 65.  In this example, the Eligibility criteria state that a member needs at least 5 years of service at termination to ultimately receive the benefit and the payment form will indicate commencement at age 65.

Eligibility: defines the eligibility requirements (age, service, and, optionally a selection expression) for the benefit.  Select from the library of Eligibility Definitions unhidden in the current Project or click the  button to create a new library entry.

Using Service: selects the Service Definition Set that should be used to evaluate any service requirements in the eligibility criteria.  Select from the library of Service Definition Sets unhidden in the current Project or click the  button to create a new library entry.

Checking the Apply alternative eligibility box indicates that benefit eligibility will be assumed to be at the earlier of the specified primary and alternative eligibility criteria. Typically these two eligibility requirements will be based on different definitions of service (e.g., benefit service versus participation service).

Alt. Elig. defines the alternative eligibility requirements. Select from the library of Eligibility Definitions unhidden in the current Project or click the  button to create a new library entry.
