Reported service unit conversion

Reported service units conversion is the first topic for Reported service units. This provides a screen for specifying the conversion rules:

The Service unit field allows you to select the array field from the Data Dictionary.

Recognize reported service units at the shows two radio buttons which allows you to select how service units are reported. During measurement periods that end before decrement, service units are recognized at the stop date in the service unit field array. During the measurement period which contains decrement date the following two options become important.

Service unit field stop date uses the stop date from the service unit array. If the decrement date is earlier than the data stop date, the value will not be included.

Earlier of decrement or service unit field (within meas. period) is mostly used if the stop date is always at the end of the measurement period. If the decrement date is earlier than the data stop date, the value will be included.

Accumulate service units by measurement period check box indicates that the amounts for the array field selected are to be accumulated within a measurement period. This is used, for example, when service units are reported on a monthly basis but are evaluated on an annual basis. ProAdmin will only accumulate values when the array has Start and Stop dates. See accumulation examples for reported service units for detailed examples.

Transform service units by measurement period check box allows you to use an Expression to determine service. Within the expression, you can use Data Dictionary variables with arithmetic (+, -, *, /, etc.), relational (=, <, >, <>, etc.), logical (#and, #or) operators along with if-then-else type statements and other ProAdmin functions. By placing the cursor within the expression box, you can press F1 for a list of available fields, operators and other useful information. See expression operators for detailed descriptions of special ProAdmin operators.

If events are not being used the check box that is shown next:

Use a different service unit conversion for decrement (and beyond), allows for a different transformation of service units to be used in the measurement period containing decrement. If the box is checked the “Params” button becomes available where a dialog screen shows:

Service unit field could be a different service unit array (or the same one) from the data dictionary. Reported hours will be recognized at the stop date in the array.

Transform service units by measurement period using an Expression allows you to use Data Dictionary variables with arithmetic (+, -, *, /, etc.), relational (=, <, >, <>, etc.), logical (#and, #or) operators along with if-then-else type statements and other ProAdmin functions to determine service. See expression operators. When you’ve selected the Expression radio button and placed the cursor within the box, you can press F1 for a list of available fields, operators and other useful information.

If events are being used,

the Overrides by Event(s) box is where different service unit conversions can be set up for different events. Such events could be a rehire, a return from leave, a specific type of leave, layoff or other termination where the rules might change according to the event. If overrides are already defined then clicking on them (click to edit) will show the service unit conversion methodology and the events to which it applies. An asterisk (*) by an override entry means that the override is not used for any events. Clicking on the “New…” button brings up the Reported service unit conversion override dialog screen.

Description may be any descriptive phrase that identifies the override to you. The name can be of any length and may use any character including spaces.

Service unit field could be a different service units array (or the same one) from the data dictionary. Reported service units will be recognized at the stop date in the array. (Recognized reported service at the data stop date) means reported hours will be recognized at the stop date in the selected array.

Transform service units by measurement period allows you to use an expression to compute service during the measurement period containing the event and measurement periods beyond the event to the next event.

Apply to Event(s) is where the selection of events to which the override applies of is made. The selection is made with a check mark in the box. The image\checked_on_top_button.gif button brings the selected events to the top of the list. The image\alphabetize_button.gif button puts the list in alphabetical order where the top entries are start events and the bottom entries are stop events as set up in the event definition. The asterisk (*) shows which events have already been selected in a different override. Should you select (check) an event with an asterisk (*), the event will no longer use the rules previously associated with the event, but will use the current override. List: is a dropdown with three options for your convenience. Start & Stop Events show all events; Start Events shows only start event and Stop Events shows only stop events.
